At the 2026 Hsinchu City
International Kite Festival, kite performances will be presented by the Asian
Kite Forum, together with international kite teams from Switzerland, France,
Italy, Germany, Thailand, and Indonesia, as well as more than 100 professional
kite flyers from northern, central, and southern Taiwan. Together, they will
deliver a spectacular kite showcase.
[International Kite Showcase] This year’s showcase
is themed “Impressions of Taiwan.” transforming the sky into a vibrant canvas showcasing
Taiwan’s most recognizable icons , including the Gaji tote bag, bubble tea, and
blue-and-white slippers, along with a giant kite featuring “Mazu and Indigenous
Totems,” representing Taiwan’s folk beliefs and cultural diversity. Another
highlight is the giant “Tech Core” kite, symbolizing Taiwan’s world-leading semiconductor
industry. Together, these creations present a sky art celebration that beautifully
displays Taiwan’s culture, daily life,
and technology.
[Stunt Kites] Stunt kites are highly dynamic
performance kites controlled by two, three, or four lines. Flying against the
wind, they are maneuvered through coordinated hand movements to change
direction, allowing for ballet-like moves, flips, and synchronized formations.
These kites can be choreographed to music and even arranged to form shapes and
letters in the sky.
【Luminous Kites】Luminous kites blend traditional kite artistry with modern technological creativity to
reveal a completely new look. This year, more than 100 illuminated soft
kites—including glowing octopuses, trilobites, whales, and other unique
designs—will light up the night sky with dazzling colors. This spectacular
display creates the feeling of stepping into a fantasy universe, showcasing the
limitless possibilities of kite artistry while conveying Hsinchu City’s spirit
of creativity and vitality.
[Kinetic Art
Installations] A massive King Kong land art installation from France will make
a striking appearance at Hsinchu Harbor. Meanwhile, Hsinchu City’s mascot
“Pica” will appear wearing blue-and-white slippers, carrying a Gaji tote bag,
and holding bubble tea. Alongside a giant Gaji tote bag installation and
colorful ladybug landscape art, these elements will transform the venue into an
immersive art space filled with Taiwanese character. Every corner will become a
picture-perfect spot, inviting visitors to create unforgettable summer
memories.
In addition, the festival
will feature a variety of kite performances, including kite train, traditional
single-line kites, fishing rod kites, and other uniquely shaped kites. Families
are warmly invited to bring children of all ages and enjoy a fun-filled holiday
together.
